All the Frogs are Singing Nicely!

Finally complete, all 3 frogs are happily singing away, and ready to be shipped to their new owner. Yes, these projects do take longer than ever anticipated, but the rewards of seeing them complete is many times greater than the anxiety produced by the lengthening of passing time!

I'm absolutely amazed to see our fireplace surround (sans frogs) in this post! We have exactly the same set, but it's in olive green. Do you know who the maker is? I've been trying to find out for years, and suddenly here it is!!

BTW, I have really enjoyed reading your blog. Your work is beautiful.

Thanks!---Christine

Hi Christine - Thanks for reading!

The company that originally made the 4 tile set of Daylilys was the American Encaustic Tile Company (also know as AET) from Zanesville, Ohio. Tile Heritage Foundation (http://www.tileheritage.org/) carries a reproduction of the original catalogue of their tiles and it's shown in that. We were asked to reproduce the whole fireplace sometime around 1989, and it's been in our offerings ever since. It is one of my favorite tile reproductions that I've carved!!

Well, that's been a 20 year mystery for me, and you solved it! We're in the process of moving, so although we'll be leaving them behind, at least I can tell the new owners where they're from.

Many thanks!---Christine in St. Louis

Hi Christine - Happy to have solved your mystery!! They are wonderful tiles - we're huge fans of A.E.T. tiles and you were lucky to have them in your home!
